Shark Blade by WesTalbott Shark Blade by WesTalbott
This was another school project. We had to find a factoid and illustrate it. I'm not really a fan of the cheesy humorous typical factoid illustration so I decided to vaguely illustrate mine with a higher purpose of the peice doubling as a fake Magic The Gathering card illustration. (trying to build up my portfolio for that sort of work)

Since I was so vague, I'm curious if anyone can guess what my factoid was. :p

Also if you want to see my preliminary sketch and color study compared to this, check out my blog post. [link]

Nicely subtle shark influence, very well done.

A truly beautiful job.

Love all the fine details in this awesome piece, right down to the frayed edge of his blue cloak.

A most definite favorite. :D

This is a clever design. The shark motif is certainly present without completely dominating the image. The whole thing is rendered beautifully, and what I love most of all is the composition and tight crop. Beautiful presentation.
