Lady Severine by WesTalbott Lady Severine by WesTalbott
a painting done for class, trying to paint more women for my portfolio.

we had to choose from 4 starting words to come up with ideas I picked "Pinup" because I thought it would be interesting to depict an older woman completely covered in armor but still make her attractive, but in a less blatantly sexual way.

This is excellent. It's SO hard to find a female knight with realistic armor instead of a chainmail bikini. XP

Oh my gosh, I love all your art. The constant element of fantasy in your paintings whisks me away.

This awesome painting has caused me to change the way I think about women in fantasy art. It's good to see the subject treated in a grown up way, and not just over-sexualized vixens designed to appeal to teenage boys. I am going to look for this sort of thing when I start to add more artwork to the website for the game I am designing.

Was there any specific inspiration for her tunic under the suit? I'd love to see what that looks like on its own.

I'm in love with this. And besides the armor, I love the detail on the sword, particularly the pommel and the wrappings around the scabbard.

I really like the touches of turquoise-- that's a color you don't see utilized often enough.
