I have to admit, I really like your stuff. This isn't the first of your pieces I've seen, but its the first I'm commenting on. I found one of your works and was so impressed I've been searching through all your stuff. I'm an avid fan now. On this piece I especially like how the cloak turns into the birds. Its really eye catching. Great work.
Thanks, I actually did use a very light tint of yellow for the brightest hilights on everything. Light is almost always yellow or orange in color though. You'll notice the cloak shifts a little green in the light cus it's effected by the yellow.
yea i noticed the cloak i agree about the lighting.. if you ever get a chance get a couple of light bulbs and color them with a magic marker in different color then turn it one and take a picture of a person or object you'll see what i mean.... Also i like how your designs are becoming more animated.. i love animation so i love it when i can see that the character can move and still be so creatively designed again great job..
I actually apologize because I spoke without looking at the pic again XD. Originally the magic glow was a yellow color. Which if you imagine that, the hilights make more sense... I apparently forgot to change the color of the hilights along with the magic glow... oh well it still looks decent XD. I should have known better than to question a 3d Artists grasp of light
Yes ever since you started mentioning that some of my character wouldn't move well I've been trying to fix that. I'm currently re-mastering Sephyrus so his armor is more believable, in the movement sense anyway... I still prefer stylized chunky armor
That would be epic. I'll prolly send you a sketch once I finish and see what adjustments would need to be made. In fact what are the worst problems at the moment? I know his large shoulder pad is a problem but I would like to keep it, so do you know any ways I could keep it but make it work?
I'm looking at it now and i can tell you just think of what it would be like if you had that armor on. Would you be able to bend forward side to side would he be able to bend his ankle and wrist? with the shoulder piece i don't think he could cross his arms unless you make the piece a little out so that he has room to move his clavicle. The other shoulder piece with the sword is fine. Just kinda imagine yourself with the armor on and try moving around. Don"t forget armor can slide and move to adjust to the persons movement kinda like Iron Man's tigh armor... and the kinda material that it is helps brinG realism to it.. this is guna be cool I"m already coming up with an idea on how to animate it
I love the cloak-into-birds effect. What's so great about it is that the lineart flows naturally from the fabric into the birds, and the transition from cool to warm colors makes the transition really dramatic! The coloring on the glass baubles is also really quite impressive!
his legs need to be placed more under his head, he is about to fall over. If his foremost leg was place more in line directly under his head, he would be far more balanced. I really like the bird cloak thing.
